Francs Management Solutions (FMS) is a finance advisory firm based in Burundi, serving SMEs, NGOs, and corporates across East Africa. FMS supports organizations in strengthening financial systems, compliance, reporting, and data-driven decision-making through practical, hands-on finance solutions. Our work is rooted in strong systems, people development, effective use of data and technology, and pragmatic execution.
FMS is seeking to recruit multiple Accountant Interns to support client engagements across SMEs, NGOs, and corporate assignments. The Accountant Interns will perform practical accounting and finance tasks covering the full accounting cycle. This is a hands-on, learning-by-doing role designed for highly motivated fresh graduates who are willing to take on real responsibilities similar to those of experienced accountants, under close supervision and structured mentorship.
The role is demanding and performance-driven, offering strong exposure to professional accounting practice in an advisory environment.

Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Accounting Knowledge: Familiarity with core accounting principles and financial processes from your studies.
- Excel Skills: Comfort navigating Microsoft Excel, with a willingness to learn advanced formulas and structured reporting templates.
- Basic familiarity with accounting software is an advantage.
Soft Skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills (French and/or English).

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Record daily financial transactions accurately and timely in accounting systems or Excel-based tools.
- Maintain general ledgers, journals, and supporting schedules in line with accounting standards and internal procedures.
- Ensure proper classification and posting of expenses, revenues, assets, and liabilities.
Cash and Bank Management
- Manage petty cash records and support cash controls.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Support monitoring of cash flows for client organizations.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process supplier invoices, payment vouchers, and supporting documentation.
- Track accounts payable and ensure timely settlements.
- Monitor accounts receivable, issue invoices, and follow up on collections.
Expense Verification & Documentation
- Verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance of expense documentation.
- Ensure transactions are supported by valid approvals and source documents.
- Maintain organized physical and electronic filing systems.
Inventory and Stock Control (where applicable)
- Support inventory recording, stock movements, and reconciliations.
- Participate in stock counts and investigations of variances.
- Ensure inventory records align with accounting data.
Payroll Support
- Assist in payroll preparation, including verification of timesheets, contracts, and statutory deductions.
- Support payroll reconciliations and documentation.
Tax and Statutory Compliance Support
- Assist in preparation of tax computations and statutory declarations (PAYE, social security, VAT, etc.).
- Support compliance with Burundi and other East African regulatory requirements, under supervision.
Monthly Close
- Support monthly and annual financial closing processes.
- Assist in preparation of accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Ensure timely completion of closing checklists.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing management accounts, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Support basic financial analysis, variance analysis, and reporting for management and donors.
Audit and Donor Reporting Support
- Prepare audit files and respond to audit queries under supervision.
- Support donor financial reporting, including compliance with donor guidelines.
Use of Accounting Software & Tools
- Work with accounting software and Excel-based financial models and templates.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of data across systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or recently completed) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option), or a related field.
- Professional accounting certification (or progress toward one) is an added advantage but not mandatory.
